
Doris “June” Tettaton, 90, of Herculaneum died Oct. 8, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Tettaton was the owner/operator of the former Crystal Cafe and a department manager for the former Venture and Kmart department stores in the Twin City Mall, from where she retired. She loved spending time with her family and was an avid reader, a history buff and a huge NFL and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Born Sept. 22, 1935, in Kennett, she was the daughter of the late Etta (Causey) and Robert Hawkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Harry Cleveland Tettaton.
She is survived by five children: Larry (Mandy) Sellman of Festus, Brenda Edwards of Ste. Genevieve, Donna (Brian) Mayer of Festus, Terry (Brenda) Sellman of Owensville and John (Kristie) Sellman of St. Peters; a brother: Bill (the late Sue) Hawkins of Anaheim, Calif.; 10 grandchildren: Michael (Laura) Sellman, Molly (Kory) Coe, Jen (Jeff) Dorenkamp, Brian Mayer, Josh (Terrah Basler) Mayer, Aaron Mayer, Dana (Ryan) Hampton, Nicky (Randy) Fischer, Johnny (Cathleen) Sellman and Morgan (Sam) Nelms; and 19 great-grandchildren: Vincent and Vera Sellman, Cooper and Gloria Rose Coe, Connor and Emmie Dorenkamp, Karlee Dyle, Lacey Mayer, Avery Bastunas, Reece Hampton, Jordan Hampton, Drew Hampton, Easton and twins Maddie and Charlotte Fischer, Olive and Cecilia Sellman and Ivy and Harrison Nelms.
She also was preceded in death by three sisters: Zelma (the late Clyde) Jacques, Juanita (the late Tony) Anthony and Sue (the late Robert) Krems; five brothers: JC (the late Barbara) Hawkins, Raymond (the late Ruby) Hawkins, Byron (the late Lois) Hawkins, Joe (the late Dorothy) Hawkins and Robert (the late Ruth) Hawkins; and a grandson: Steven Parker II.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until a memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Stephen Lian. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
