Bowling, Derry

Derry Lee Bowling, 69, of De Soto died Oct. 19, 2024, at his home. Mr. Bowling was a 1973 graduate of Festus High School and a graduate of Jefferson College. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Pastor at Life Christian Church in De Soto for 33 years. Mr. Bowling was an administrative assistant for the Jefferson Barracks Hospital and at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. He also was a substitute teacher at Athena and Sunrise Schools. Born June 29, 1955, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Eva (Wallace) and Edward Bowling.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years: Sheila (White) Bowling; two children: Jason (Angie) Bowling of De Soto and Rachel (Justin) Faulkner of De Soto; five sisters: Tonya (Ray) Bowling, Barbara (Danny) Hartleroud, Tamara (Mike) Dutton, Darlene (David) Keck and Renetta (Lonnie) Smith; two brothers: Gordon (Jean) Bowling and his twin brother Gary Bowling; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the way; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother: David Beck; and a sister-in-law: Lois Bowling.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the funeral home chapel, officiated by Brother Pete Ruble. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Life Christian Church, 3836 Fountain City Road, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
