Dennis R. Green, 78, of South St. Louis County died Sept.18, 2026. Mr. Green, known to friends and family as “Den” or “Denny,” grew up and spent most of his life in the city of St. Louis, where he worked, attended many baseball and hockey games and raised his family. Earning his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Southeast Missouri State University, he was a proud member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, where he made lifelong friends. During his college years, he met his wife on a blind date. They were married for 55 years and raised two daughters. He went on to earn his master's plus 30 in mathematics from Webster University. He spent his career working for the St. Louis City Public Schools, most well known for being a math teacher and eventually the head of the math department at Northwest High School. He was a mentor to countless students who, throughout their college and professional careers, would call and thank him for being a wonderful and impactful teacher. Later in his career, he transitioned into administration first at Northwest High School and eventually at Central Visual Performing Arts High School until retirement. As an avid lover of sports, if a game was televised or in town, he was watching it. He was also a trivia buff and loved crossword puzzles, sudoku and reading Stephen King novels. Additionally, he was known for giving everyone a nickname and telling jokes. Born March 12, 1948, in Cherryville, he was the son of the late Glen and Jessie (Nichol) Green.
He is survived by his wife: Vivian (LaBorde) Green; two daughters: Shelley (Steve) Blecha and Terri (Steve) Schnyder; two grandchildren: Clayton Blecha and Riley Blecha; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Kim Green and Kevin Green; and a grandson: Nathan Blecha.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. until services at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
