Dean Robert Meyer, 81, of Warrenton died March 23, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis. Mr. Meyer served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1968 in Vietnam. He worked for IGA in Festus in his younger years. He had moved to North Carolina, where he had worked for A&P Grocery as a general manager. After several years there, he and the family moved back to Missouri, where he started working at IGA in Wright City. He continued his career there until the mid-1980's, when he decided to buy into the market and open and operate an IGA in Warrenton. He loved the Warrenton community and was known as a generous and giving man who would often help others. He and his wife owned and operated IGA until 2004, when they decided to sell and retire. He enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery, having an ice-cold Pepsi and taking care of his yard. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson, whom he helped raise. He was a member of the Faith Christian Family Church in Warrenton and loved being a part of the Marine Corps League, attending meetings and supporting their barbecues. Born May 19, 1944, in Festus, he was the son of the late John G. and Catherine E. (Huene) Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years: Alice Ann Meyer, whom he married on Nov. 6, 1971.
He is survived by his son: Michael (Nancy) Meyer of Warrenton; two brothers: John (Helen) Meyer of Festus and Don (the late Ethel) Meyer of Festus; three sisters: Patricia (Mike) McMillen of Stayton, Ore., Mary (Jim) Peterin of Festus and Geralyn (Dr. Charles) Prior of De Soto; three grandchildren: Madison (fiance Andy Tate) Meyer, Ethan Meyer and Paisley Meyer; a great-grandson: Tucker Leake; and many other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by four siblings: Alvin Meyer, Betty Aker, Norma Hunter and Ruth Ann Meyer.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pitman Funeral Home in Warrenton.
