David M. Brandt, 83, of De Soto died Jan. 31, 2026, at his home. Mr. Brandt retired as the owner of Basic Asphalt Paving. He was a member of B.P.O.E. 689. He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and working on his home and property. Born May 21, 1942, in Los Angeles, Calif., he was the son of the late Billy J. and Regina M. (Morgan) Brandt.
He is survived by his wife: Linda (Valle) Brandt of De Soto, whom he married on Oct. 20, 1979; six children: Craig (Lisa) Brandt of Martinsburg, Rod Brandt of Jefferson City, Chris (Miranda) Brandt of Eldon, Troy Dickinson of Springfield, Mike (Katie) Brandt of Festus and David (Sahila) Brandt of Affton; 12 grandchildren: Jeremy “J.R.” Brandt, Stephanie Brandt, Summer Brandt, Clayton Brandt, Sylvia Modesitt, Carrie Modesitt, Hannah Brandt, Chris “C.J.” Brandt, Matilda Brandt, Collyn Brandt, Sara Brandt and Cyrus Brandt; two sisters: Beverly (the late Stanley) Hill of Kansas City and Peggy Brandt of Eldon; and several great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
