Darlene Louise Sanders, 92, of Festus, formerly of Millstadt, Ill., died Sept. 2, 2024. Born Aug. 4, 1932, in Valmeyer, Ill., Mrs. Sanders was the daughter of the late Katherine (Langhans) and Clarence Schmidt.
She is survived by her husband: Robert L. Sanders; three children: Diane L. (Dave) Messer of Festus, Duane A. (Maureen) Sanders of Greensboro, Ga., and Brian K. Sanders of St. Louis; a sister: Sharon K. (Bill) Fey of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren: Whitney D. Goins, Kyle J. Hargis, Hunter C. Sanders, Gage H. Sanders and Kaleigh R. Sanders; and four great-grandchildren: Mason R. Hargis, Lilliana A. Hargis, McLaine L. Goins and Emery J. Goins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth (the late LaVerne) Schmidt and Gene R. (the late Maryalice) Schmidt.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 3 p.m. until a celebration of life at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main, in Festus. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
