Cletus George Jennewein Sr., 91, of St. Louis, formerly of Festus, died April 9, 2026, at Crystal Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation in Crystal City. Mr. Jennewein was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus. He loved spending time with his family. He had many friends and acquaintances due to his work and the charities he was involved with during his lifetime. Born June 18, 1934, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Celest R. (Koeninger) and Anthony C. Jennewein.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Delores Ann (Doskocil) Jennewein.
He is survived by six children: Steve (Terri) Jennewein Sr. of Affton, Cletus Jennewein Jr. of Bonne Terre, Christopher Jennewein of Festus, Susan (Mike Spriesterbach) Zinn of Festus, Cheri (the late Lance) Hall of Festus and Christina (John) Hall of Bonne Terre; three siblings: Shirley Horstman of St. Louis, Mary (Don) Hacker of St. Louis and Anthony “Tony” (Laura) Jennewein of St. Charles, Missouri; his nieces, nephews and cousins; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a sister: Virginia Bodner.
A memorial Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, at Sacred Heart Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
