Herzog, Clara

Clara Christine Herzog, 84, of Wentzville died May 1, 2024. Mrs. Herzog was the owner and operator of Clara’s Boutique & Fabrics.  She was a member of St. Rose Quilters and Scraps and Patch’s Quilting in Festus. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Born Aug. 14, 1939, in Glennonville, she was the daughter of the late Elsa Veronica (Meyer) and Joseph Casper Stenger.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years: Eugene Charles Herzog of Wentzville; two sons: Robert C. (Candy) Herzog of Perryville and John E. (Cathy) Herzog of Mehlville; two daughters: Mary Rose (Jeffery) Maberry of Hillsboro and Patricia Ann Turnbough of Wentzville; two sisters: Patricia Stenger of Kansas City and Clementine (Anthony) Lampe of Black; two sisters-in-law: Bernice Stenger of Perryville and Karen Stenger of Jonesburg; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Ferdinand (Frances) Stenger, Father Joseph Stenger, Wilfred Stenger and Edward Stenger; and eight sisters: Agnes (Joseph) Fluech, Sister Ann Miriam Stenger, Peggy Stenger, Sister Mary Clement Stenger, Sister Jovita Stenger, Sister Mariella Stenger, Rose (Tom) Murphy and Arlene Stenger.

Visitation and services were May 6 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto with Father Mike Murphy officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the ALS Association St. Louis Regional, 1950 Craig Road 200, in St. Louis 63146. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
