Charlotte Marie Schluter, 99, Florissant
Charlotte Marie Schluter, 99, of Florissant died Dec. 30, 2023, at Sunrise Senior Living of Chesterfield. Ms. Schluter served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during World War II and retired from the Military Veterans Record Center in St. Louis after 45 years. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Festus, where her grandfather, the Rev. Alonzo Lambert, was pastor. She also was a member of the Eastern Star. Born Feb. 15, 1924, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Lambert) and Clarence Santschi.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Naval Chief Petty Officer Edwin H. Schluter.
She is survived by 13 family members: Becky (Bob) Tipton, Diane (Santschi) Carman, Chris (Bea) Santschi, Danice (Larry) Haverstick-Swain, Pam (Partney) Harmon, Laura (Larry) McAtee, Jeff (Vickie) Partney, Steve (Bernice) Partney, Polly (Santschi) Watson, Amy Santschi, Paula (Mike) Prindiville, Mark (Gina) Santschi and Lisa Santschi; two special great-nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Steve) Carrera and Mark (Chrissy) Tipton; many other great-nieces and nephews; and two close friends and caretakers: John and Joanna Vahey of Florissant.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Julius (the late Vi) Santschi, Vera (the late Harold) Trigg, Virginia (the late Howard) Partney, Byron (the late Marty) Santschi and Paul (the late Norma) Santschi; and a nephew: Nels Santschi.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, with Pastor Adam Kaul officiating. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or First United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Festus. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
