James, Charles

Charles Junior James, 87, of House Springs died Dec. 16, 2024, at Crystal Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Crystal City. Mr. James was a member of Jefferson Heights Baptist Church and a former member of Highland Baptist Church. He was a retired welder and fabricator who was well-known for his welding skills. He loved fast cars, trucks and motorcycles. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for being devoted to his faith and family. Born Sept. 5, 1937, in Kennett, he was the son of the late Elsie Lorene (Holcomb) Cheshire.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Imogene "Jean" (Gillman) James, whom he married on Dec. 9, 1954.

He is survived by two daughters: Chyren L. (Darren) Fee of High Ridge and Barb James of De Soto; a son: Michael C. (Becky) James of Cedar Hill; six grandchildren: Amie (John), Amber (Lucas), Ronnie, Breanna, Gus (Kaitlyn) and Reese; three great-grandchildren: Ethan, Billie and William (Mackenzie); and many other family members and friends.

He also was preceded in death by a son: Steven C. James.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Chapel Hill Mortuary-Robert Brown Chapel, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Burial will be in Peaceful Meadows Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to Jefferson Heights Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary-Robert Brown Chapel.
