Faigle, Charles

Charles Howard “Chuck” Faigle, 91, of Barnhart died Jan. 25, 2024, at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Crystal City. Mr. Faigle had formerly worked as a produce manager for Kroger and was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Pevely and American Legion Post 253 in Festus. In his free time, he enjoyed oil painting and all sports, especially softball, bowling, horseshoes, fishing and hunting. Born Nov. 3, 1932, in East St. Louis, Ill., he was the son of the late Lydia (Bode) and Howard Faigle.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Mary Virginia (Moon) Faigle; a son: Charles Howard Faigle Jr. of Barnhart; three daughters: Linda (Ed) Roman of Festus, Diane Oppermann of Fenton and Janice (Lester) Fenton of Imperial; a sister-in-law: Donna Faigle of Collinsville, Ill.; seven grandchildren: Amy (James), Michael, Stephen (Hana), Sara (Michael), Matthew, Nicholas (Alexis) and Christopher (Laura); nine great-grandchildren: Kaitlin (Jake), Morgan, Coraline, Elijah, Oliver, Olivia, Clark, Juliana and Quinn; and a great-great-grandchild: Isla.  

He was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Faigle; a sister: Doris Crespi; and a brother-in-law: Charles Crespi. 

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Zion Lutheran Church, 310 Central Ave., in Pevely. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
