Carolyn Sue Baugus, 82, of De Soto died Jan. 14, 2025, in Granite City, Ill. Mrs. Baugus was a factory worker for Contour Chair. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto. She enjoyed dancing, shopping, drinking margaritas and listening to Mickey Gilley. She was close to her siblings and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born Oct. 5, 1942, in Cadet, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Pratt and Lucille (Politte) Pratt.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Baugus.
She is survived by two children: Carla (Dwayne) Laramore of De Soto and Dwayne (Pam) Estes of Granite City, Ill.; a brother: Sylvester "Pill" (Verna) Pratt of Crystal City; a sister-in-law: Ethel Pratt of De Soto; eight grandchildren: Blake, Jacob (Desiray), Jarod, Jocelyn, Jaxson, Courtney, Dustin and Ryan; five great-grandchildren: Brayden, Averie, Jaden, Aubrey and Lazlyn; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles (Ann) Pratt and John Pratt; and seven sisters: Rosemarie (Bob) Morris, Bernadette (Oscar) Wall, Doris (Red) Burr, Nancy (Russ) Weiss, Margaret (Paul) Miller, Elaine (Larry) Baldridge and Jane Pratt.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon Saturday, Jan. 18, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main, in De Soto. Burial will follow in St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery in Old Mines. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
