Carolyn Orso Bertelsmeyer, 77, of Eureka died Jan. 20, 2026, in Florida. Mrs. Bertelsmeyer earned a degree in religion from Wittenberg College and a master’s degree in social work from Boston University. She worked as a social worker, substitute teacher and caregiver, and she held many volunteer roles throughout her life. She was a member of The River at Eureka Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing Mahjong, cards and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kindness, faith, compassion, integrity and for putting the needs of others before her own. Born July 2, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Kathryn and Paul Orso.
She is survived by her husband: John Bertelsmeyer; two children: Susan (David) Krieg and Scott (Jill) Bertelsmeyer; five grandchildren: Levi and Nathan Bertelsmeyer and Charlotte, Landon and Amelia Krieg; a brother: Donald (Kathy) Orso; a brother-in-law: Jim (Glenda) Bertelsmeyer; a sister-in-law: Joy (Ray) Gee; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the Family Center at Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, in Ballwin. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at The River at Eureka, 215 North Central Ave., in Eureka, 63025. Memorials may be made to The River at Eureka. Arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
