Carolyn K. (White) LaChance, 79, of Farmington died April 28, 2026, at her home. Ms. LaChance was a 1965 graduate of Bonne Terre High School. There, she loved baton twirling and liked her home economics class. She worked at Hare’s Grocery in Bonne Terre, the Bonne Terre Hospital and, later in life, she worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Factory, retiring in 1995. She then went to work at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and retired in 2008. She lived most of her life in Missouri and loved to travel. Her favorite place was Jackson Hole, Wyo., and she recently enjoyed visiting the Ark Encounter last year. She was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had many special kids throughout her life who called her “Nana” and an honorary daughter, Sheila Dodson. She had a special place in her heart for her cousin, Marylin Brown, and her family. Strong in her faith, she was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Born Feb. 10, 1947, at her grandmother’s house in Bonne Terre, she was the daughter of the late Chesley and Irene (Williams) White.
She is survived by three children: Lisa Puckett of De Soto, Tammy (David) Buchanan of Farmington and Glen (Brandolyn) LaChance of Farmington; two stepdaughters: Dawn Tilley and Tracy Walsh and their families; 11 grandchildren: Madelyn (Justin) Smith of St. Louis, Morgan (Eli) Redman of High Ridge, Dylan (Devon) Frazier of Imperial, Seth (Emily) Frazier of De Soto, Michael Tindall of Farmington, Tristan Buchanan of Farmington, Caleb Buchanan of Farmington, Adreanna LaChance of Farmington, Alaniss (Wesley) Files of Illinois, Aubrie LaChance of Farmington and Avarie LaChance of Farmington; four great-grandchildren: Finley Redman, Walker Frazier, Charlotte Files and Ellie Files; a brother: Marvin White of Missouri; two nephews and a niece; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Chesley “Butch” White; and a sister: Darlene Ann Hurtgen.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a celebration of life at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Highland Baptist Church, 5030 Highland Baptist Church Road, in Hillsboro, 63050, officiated by Pastor Keith Perren. Memorials may be made to the Highland Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
