Carole Rae (Schmidt) Hess, 84, of Pevely died June 7, 2026, in St. Louis. Mrs. Hess dedicated many years as a data processor for MetLife. She enjoyed shopping, dining out, painting, cooking, baking and traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Born Sept. 14, 1941, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Ray Schmidt and Wilma (Williams) Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Tom Hess.
She is survived by four sons: Kevin (Toni) Cooke of De Soto, Terry (Gidget) Cooke of Des Arc, Tom Cooke of St. Louis and Jerrod (Tara) Hebenstreit of French Village; a daughter: Julie A. (Daniel) Turner of Pevely; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters: Johnna Kaye Cooke and Shari Cooke.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
