Carol Lynn Chance, 66, of Pevely died April 27, 2025, in Herculaneum. Ms. Chance was a victim advocate for A Safe Place, a domestic violence shelter in Jefferson County. She loved animals, barbeque and classic rock music. Born Sept. 25, 1958, in Audrain County, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Schrecengost) and Dr. Raymond Walsh.
She is survived by a child: Amy (Mark) Fasnut of Festus; an honorary child: Tonya Fallert of Crystal City; two siblings: Nancy (Al) Siebert of Festus and Tom Walsh of High Ridge; four grandchildren: Caleb Walsh, Spencer Hall, Ryker Hall and Elliana Fasnut; two aunts: Nan Ochs of Chicago, Ill., and Virginia Schrecengost of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; her former husband: David Chance of Festus; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sibling: Virginia “Gini” Walsh Brown; and four grandparents: Theresa and Raymond Walsh and Louis and Else Schrecengost.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel in South St. Louis County.
