Carol Ann Rose, 90, of Crystal City died Jan. 24, 2026. Mrs. Rose was known for having a zest for life and for her words of encouragement she often shared. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Festus, active in several activities there and loved to share her faith with others. She also was well known for placing religious tracts in her Christmas cards and handing out literature and Bibles. She loved spending time deer hunting when she was still able and wanted to know when others were successful in their hunts. She will be remembered for her laughter, pecan muffins and the many jokes she was famous for telling to anyone who would listen. Born July 23, 1935, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Maximillion Schmeer and Emma Caroline (Forthman) Schmeer.
She was preceded in death by her husband: John Edwin Rose, whom she married on July 23, 1983.
She is survived by five children: Wayne Glier of Festus, Lynn Schwalbert of De Soto, Tina Barron of Hillsboro, Paula (Mitchell) Davis of Dittmer and Denna Roland of Arnold; 10 grandchildren: Selena Lambrich-Johnson, Justin Lambrich, Michael Schwalbert, Sarah Muse, Albert Roland, Michelle McConochie, Brittany Young, Krista Henderson, Brandy Mahan and Kourtney Bowen; 20 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Pamela Rose; a son-in-law: Roger Schwalbert; and five siblings: Paul Schmeer, Thelma McKeever, Theodore Schmeer, Richard Schmeer and Doris Kase.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, 530 E. Springfield Road, in St. Clair, officiated by Pastor Carey Jones. Interment will be in Green Mound Cemetery in St. Clair. Arrangements are under the direction of Russell Colonial Funeral Home.
