Billy Samuel (Toad) Gosnell, 72, of Arnold, died Jan. 26, 2026, at his home. Mr. Gosnell was a veteran of the USAF and a retired mechanic at Ford and Yale. He loved spending time with his family and will be remembered for his kindness, strength and willingness to help. Born Sept. 21, 1953, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Almarie (Burgess) Gosnell and Billy G. Gosnell.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 51 years: Sheila Ann (Fitzsimmons) Gosnell.
He is survived by two sons: Billy R. (Lindsey) Gosnell and Daniel Gosnell; two grandchildren: Tristen P. and Zella A. Gosnell; an ex-sister-in-law: Sherry Weber; two brothers: Thomas Frank (Martha) Gosnell and Larry Joe (Bonnie) Gosnell; a brother-in-law: Russell Fitzsimmons Jr.; three sisters-in-law: Jackie Camp, Linda Marshall and Tammy Daverveld; 15 nieces and nephews: Gracie, Ronald (JR), Stephanie, Aaron, Nicky, Ashley, Lena, Mickey, Jason, Mark, Kenneth, Jennifer, Tia, Lydia and Jessica; and numerous other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a baby daughter: Maryha Lynn Gosnell; a brother: Ronald G. Gosnell; a nephew: Russell Fitzsimmons III; a brother-in-law: Don Marshall; a mother-in-law: Marcella (Cage) Fitzsimmons; and a father-in-law: Russell Fitzsimmons Sr.
Services will be held at a later date in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks.
