Weible, Betty

Betty D. Pope Weible, 89, of Crystal City died Jan. 3, 2026, at her home. Mrs. Weible was a retired educator from Crystal City Elementary School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City, the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Jefferson County Retired Teachers and a charter member of PEO Chapter NE. Born March 13, 1936, in Benton, she was the daughter of the late Etta “Jackie” (Patengill) and Wade Brock.

She was preceded in death by two husbands: Clinton Pope and Raymond Weible.

She is survived by a daughter: Kim Alexander of Festus; three sisters: Jacqueline Ann “Jackie” (Robert) Govreau of Festus, Kay (Benjamin) Burford of Chicago, Ill., and Deborah Brock of Van Buren, Ark.; three grandsons: Jordan (Anne) Alexander, Jake (Jessica) Alexander and Spencer (Kim) Alexander; four great-grandchildren: Knox James Alexander, Maxine Liberty Alexander, Jordan Lee Alexander and Eva Grace Alexander; and many other family members, former students and friends.

She also was preceded in death by a sister: Sally (John of Chesterfield) Hoffmeister; two brothers: Thomas Brock and Daniel Joseph Brock; and two close friends: Herschel Dugan and Gale Strother.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City, 113 Gravois Road, in Festus, 63028, officiated by the Rev. Tish Green. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry of First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
