Bernice E. (Thornton) Arnold, 93, of Imperial died Feb. 24, 2024. Mrs. Arnold was a homemaker. She worked for the Fox C-6 School District as a baker from 1975-1991 and was a co-owner of the Tom Boy grocery store in Arnold from 1981-1988. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, bowling, volleyball, card games, dominos, camping, cooking and watching her family play sports. She also enjoyed watching professional sports, especially St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Born Jan. 4, 1931, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Esther Thornton.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Louis W. Arnold, whom she married in 1931 after his return from serving in the Army.
She is survived by four children: Debbie Arnold, Randy (Barbara) Arnold, Lindy (Lee Ann) Arnold and Susan (Robert) Pulley; a brother: Jerry (Rochelle) Thornton; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a child: Sally Ann Arnold.
Funeral services were held March 4 at Kutis South County Chapel in St. Louis. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Pony Bird, 1615 Vine School Road, Herculaneum, 63048, or Coalition for Animal Rescue and Education, 16981 E. Hwy E, Cadet, 63630. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
