Arnold D. “Arnie” Keen, 77, of Byrnes Mill died Sept. 28, 2024. Mr. Keen was a Marine veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 783 in House Springs, where he formed lifelong friendships. He was known as a fun-loving jokester with a particular sense of humor. He often shared his pranks, quick wit and lighthearted approach to life with many, especially with his children and grandchildren. He coached countless basketball, baseball and softball teams, leaving an impact on the lives of the young people he mentored. He also had a passion for cars, especially his 2018 Mustang GT Convertible. Mr. Keen, in addition to spending time with his family, enjoyed downtime with his close-knit group of friends, known as the “Rowdies Group.” These gatherings were a highlight of his week and a testament to the lasting friendships he built. Before the Rowdies, Arnie loved to spend time drinking coffee and playing pool with his best friend, Earl. He will be remembered for his life lessons, boundless sense of humor and full of life spirit. Born Dec. 26, 1946, he was the son of the late Earl and Ruth Keen.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia (Wyckoff) Keen; two children: Troci Tomson and Mike (Heidi) Keen; six grandchildren: Ally (Jake) Bullington, Jesse Tomson, Jeremy Tomson, David Keen, Yeraldina Keen and Elaina Keen; six siblings: Brenda (Butch) Lindsay, Barbara Keen, David Keen, Jean Case, Janice (Blair) Smith and Carla Wallace; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by two siblings: Virginia Garrison and Jimmy Nations.
Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. until services at noon Thursday, Oct. 3, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Toys for Tots or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
