Anthony John Moreno Sr., 85, of Hillsboro died May 17, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Moreno worked as a supervisor at MSD and, and after he retired, he worked for the Hillsboro R-III School District. He enjoyed shopping, joyriding and spending time with family, friends and his dog. Born July 28, 1938, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Pedro and Clara Moreno.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Patsy Moreno.
He is survived by a son: Edward (Courtney) Moreno of Hillsboro; a daughter: Debbie (Darrin) Bleckler of Irondale; six grandchildren: Nicole, Kyle, Trent, Devin, Cody and Parker; and four great-grandchildren: Hayden, Joscelyn, Kinzley and Amelia.
He also was preceded in death by a son: Tony Moreno Jr.; and 13 siblings: Angel, Jules, Joel, Johnny, Lito, Lupe, Becky, Marina, Lola, Jenny, Susie, Steven and Mary.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at noon Tuesday, May 28, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 4th St., in Hillsboro. Burial of cremains will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
