Annette Marie Alexander, 58, of Fenton died May 25, 2025, at her home. Ms. Alexander was a member of the former Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Festus and a retired police dispatcher for the city of Festus. She was known for excelling in her dispatcher role, becoming a trusted voice in times of emergency. She also was known for her calm demeanor and the reassurance she offered to others. She loved spending time with her pets and attending family gatherings. She will be remembered for her warm smile and generosity. Born Aug. 4, 1966, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Hattie Cecelia (McCoy) and George Edwin Alexander.
She is survived by a son: Dylan Alexander-Mayes of Fenton; three sisters: Diane Burdell of Festus, Debbie (Charles) Humphries of Festus and Rachel Cook of Festus; three brothers: Chester (Melissa) Alexander of Festus, Gary (Sandra) Alexander of Festus and Todd (Joline) Alexander of Festus; and numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of life is scheduled for noon Tuesday, June 3, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Mary S. Thomas of Crossroads Outreach Ministries. Burial will be at a later date in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
