Irwin, Marylin

Marilyn May Irwin, 92, of De Soto died March 23, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Irwin was a long-time citizen of Victoria and had retired from Spielberg Manufacturing. She was a member of Victoria United Methodist Church and later became a member of First United Methodist Church in De Soto. Born May 16, 1932, in Chickasha, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Jay T. and Janet (Pickering) Wantland.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Wallace Irwin.

She is survived by two children: Elizabeth “Liz” (Stephen Deaton) Irwin of High Ridge and Monica (Justin Pouliezos) Irwin of Victoria; a sister: Marjory Ives of Victoria; four grandchildren: Alex (Sara) Irwin of Knoxville, Tenn., Katherine Irwin of St. Louis, Lucas Yockel of Kansas City and Alexis Yockel of Arnold; and six great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a son: Monte Irwin; two brothers: Charles Wantland and Paul Wantland; a sister-in-law: Lucy Wantland; and a brother-in-law: John Ives.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at First United Methodist Church, 200 Boyd St., in De Soto. Burial will be in the Victoria Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
