Erica Rene Wright-Riegert, 43, of Imperial died July 1, 2023. Ms. Wright-Riegert grew up playing softball, cheerleading, singing in choirs and dancing, including ballet, tap and jazz, before graduating from Fox High School. She earned a cosmetology license and enjoyed being a mom, participating in and supporting all her sons’ activities. She was known for her vivacious laugh, her smile and her passion for travel and for photography. She enjoyed a good book, particularly one filled with suspense and intrigue, a glass of white wine, sunrises and sets, a steaming cup of coffee in the morning and a crackling fire in the evening. Throughout her battle with cancer, she displayed positivity, grace and courage and inspired those around her. Born Oct. 23, 1979, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Peter Scott (Barbara) Smith and the late Brenda Smith.
In addition to her father and stepmother, she is survived by her husband: Jeremy Riegert; two sons: Tyler Wright and Talan Wright; three stepchildren: Dominic, Sophie and Brie Riegert; a sister: Jessica (Buzz) Smith-Winchester; and two stepsisters: Sarah Dippel and Christy Dippel.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home in south St. Louis County. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home.
