Edith I. Davis, 84, of De Soto died Aug. 25, 2023, in De Soto. Mrs. Davis retired as a fancy stitcher from the De Soto Shoe Factory. Born Sept. 12, 1938, in Valles Mines, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle (Henroid) and John Thomas Burns.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Glenn Davis.

She is survived by three children: Janet (Clifford Wilson) Hill of Cadet, Wy., Dale (Angie) Davis Sr. of De Soto and Gary (Linda Hocker) Davis of De Soto; 12 grandchildren: Bradley (Amanda Taylor) Clark Jr., Glen (Felicia Dobbs) Clark, Heather (Brian) Pogue, William “Billy” Davis Jr., Gilisa Portell, Tasha Dean, Shawn (Tammy) Hill, Robert (Sheryl) Pinson Jr., James (Bandy) Hogan, Jason (Jessica) Pruitte Sr., Richard Nelson II and James Nelson; a granddaughter-in-law: Penny Davis; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters: Glenda Sue Clark and Cheryl (the late Richard Sr.) Nelson; and two grandsons: Matt and Dale A. Davis; three sisters: Thelma Dorsey, Ruby Neibeker and Stella Korn Henson; and five brothers: Floyd, Tom, Stanley, Earl and Lawrence Burns.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, immediately followed by services officiated by Larry Dean. Burial will be in Charter Memorial Gardens in Festus. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, De Soto.
