David Lee DeRousse, 81, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Crystal City, died April 8, 2023, at his home. Mr. DeRousse grew up in Crystal City and began working as a young man, culminating in a career with the railroad. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing with his children, hunting with Tuck DeRousse and going to shooting matches with Joe “P.J.” Schaffer. Born Jan. 12, 1942, in Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Roy and Margaret Martin DeRousse.
He is survived by his wife: Linda Lea (Kyle) DeRousse, whom he married Sept. 5, 1970; and four children: Harold Wayne “Toodie” (Linda) Watson and Anthony Kyle “Tony” (Kristi) Watson, both of Jackson, Traci Lynn Watson of North Carolina and David Lee (Christina) DeRousse Jr. of Ste. Genevieve.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Howard Sloan, Billie Sloan and Bob Roy DeRousse; a sister: Donna Hall; and a great-grandchild: Quinn Watson.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements were under the direction of McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
