Alice Faye (Welker) Darby, 88, of Hillsboro died May 26, 2023, at her home. Mrs. Darby worked at a daycare and was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, feeding the birds, camping, going to garage sales, watching Westerns and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting Silver Dollar City and Walmart with her grandchildren. Born Jan. 29, 1935, in Marble Hill, she was the daughter of the late Ruby and Linus Welker.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years: Gary Darby, whom she married on July 24, 1954; ; two sons: Gary (Sharon) Darby of Imperial and Larry (Patricia) Darby of Hillsboro; four grandchildren: Jim (Amelia) Darby, Ben Darby, Amanda Darby and Dereck (Melissa) Depew; six great-grandchildren: Luke Darby, Jesse Darby, Kayleigh Depew, Wyatt Darby, Bryce Darby and Harper Darby. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Matt Darby and Jacob Darby.
A funeral service was held May 31 at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial was in the Peaceful Meadows Cemetery in Hillsboro. Arrangements were under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
