Anna M. (Self) Axtetter, 93, of Festus died Aug. 21, 2023. Ms. Axtetter was known for her pies, quilts, baby blankets and stained glass. Born Aug. 27, 1929, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Eleanor Frances (Boyer) and Floyd Basil Self Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bernard A. Axtetter.
She is survived by six children: Donna (Gary) Vandiver, Lana (Stanley) Link, Julie Axtetter, Jim (the late Nancy) Axtetter, Amy (Terry) Crump and Emily (Owen) Hasson; four siblings: Eileen (Harold) Peterein, Leo (Liz) Self, Edwin (the late Ruth) Self and Richard (Vera) Self; seven grandchildren: Adam (Shawn) McClenahan, Jacob (Tammy Bourbon) Montgomery, Laura (Ron Schleper) Vandiver, Jocelyn (Jeff) Hillis, Shawn Crump, Max (Hazel) Hasson and Samantha Hasson; seven great-grandchildren: Cody, Emily, Meghan, Abbey, Bryce, Oliver and Cora; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by eight siblings: Gene Self, Bob Self, Betty Howard, Joy Schweigert, Floyd Self Jr., Shirley Basler, Loretta Self and Vivian Williams.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at n12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
