Broombaugh, Robert

Robert “Scott” Broombaugh, 53, of Valles Mines died Oct. 22, 2023. Mr. Broombaugh was a 1988 graduate of Windsor High School in Imperial. He worked at the Rock Community Fire Department as a firefighter for 35 years until his retirement in June 2023. He enjoyed telling jokes, having Swiss Rolls and fishing without a pole. He will be remembered for being an avid St. Louis Blues fan, a garage-band rockstar, drinking his Bud Light and collecting cats, trains and other discarded treasures. He especially enjoyed eating McDonald’s cheeseburgers. Born Feb. 5, 1970, he was the son of Betty and the late Glen L. Broombaugh.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 18 years: Cheryl; four children: Jamie (Mike) Mittermeyer, Chris (Kerry) Obert, Rob (Monica) Obert and Samm (TJ) Seeger; a brother: Jeffrey (Lisa) Broombaugh; 12 grandchildren: Emma, Noah, Kahsu, Alex, Aiden, Kendall, PJ, Lennon, Bela, Mila, Summer and Winter, “Mini Scooter;” nieces and nephews: Jeffrey (Kaitlyn), Steven, Monica (Drew) and Morgan (Cole); a sister-in-law: Connie Matthews; seven cats; and several other wild animals he enjoyed feeding from his back deck.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Glen A. Broombaugh.

A celebration of life is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Pastime Club, 5557 US Hwy. 61, in Imperial. Arrangements are under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington.
