Carol Sue (Richardson) Dallas, 84, of Festus died Sept. 21, 2026, at Nazareth Living Center in south St. Louis County after a long illness. Mrs. Dallas graduated from Festus High School in 1959. A date with her best friend’s brother led to a relationship that spanned nearly seven decades. She married her husband on Oct. 10, 1964, and they made their home in Jefferson County, where they raised their only child. Born with a hearing loss that never dimmed her spirit or kept her from connecting with others, she was known for her warmth and laughter. She enjoyed everyday interactions, whether chatting with someone at the grocery store or striking up a conversation at a restaurant. Most of all, she loved spending time with family. She rarely missed a milestone or special occasion in her grandchildren’s lives and, with her husband, took them on annual RV adventures. She loved embroidering and crocheting gifts for friends and family, trying new recipes and baking. She also enjoyed being in nature, feeding birds, tending flowers, watching deer roam through the backyard and taking walks with her husband at the park near their home. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Festus and active in her Sunday School group for many years. Born Dec. 28, 1941, in Herculaneum, she was the daughter of Cecelia (Higgins) Richardson and Darrell Nelson Chapman. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Olin S. Richardson.
She is survived by her husband: Joseph “Joe” Dallas; her daughter: Deb (Tim) Parker; three grandchildren: Joseph (Dani Stassi) Parker, Jessica Parker and Katherine Parker; and a great-granddaughter: Vivienne Parker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a half-brother: Olin Dale Richardson.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a service at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
