Lorraine Dorothy (Allgaier) Magee, 95, of Imperial died Jan. 7, 2026, at her home. Mrs. Magee, a retired registered nurse, attended Roosevelt High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Washington University. While working as a nurse, she met William, a young medical resident at Barnes Hospital, which began a 73-year love story. He died only six weeks ago. Learning was important to her and she encouraged her children to be critical thinkers and daring. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an expert gardener and a supporter of Missouri Botanical Gardens. She was a leader of the Women’s Association at Trinity Presbyterian Church, investment club, gourmet club, Daughters of the American Revolution and the St. Louis Genealogy Society. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.

Born July 2, 1930, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Schultz Cookson and Edwin Francis Allgaier Sr. Her stepfather was the late Curtis Jean Cookson. She was preceded in death by a husband: Dr. William Edwin Magee Sr.

She is survived by four children: Suzanne Magee of Hinesburg, Vt., William Edwin (Kathy) Magee Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., Jennifer Cox of Tucson, Ariz., and Wendy (Reed) Sarver of Fort Collins, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by a brother: Edwin Francis Allgaier Jr.; and a grandson: William Thomas “Tommy” Grant.

Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd. in Arnold. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s UCC, 6610 St. Lukes Church Road, Imperial, MO 63052 or to Missouri Botanical Gardens. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
