Georgetta S. Thompson, 84, De Soto

Georgetta S. Thompson, 84, of De Soto died March 28, 2025, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mrs. Thompson was a school custodian. Born May 25, 1940, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of the late Earl Edgar and Lucy A. (Minker) Kite. She was preceded in death by her husband: Chad T. Thompson Sr.

She is survived by a child: Stella (Richard “Rick” Sr.) Brinley of De Soto; two siblings: Charlotte LaRatta of De Soto and Ethel Wilson of De Soto; two grandchildren: Richard “Ricky” Brinley of Moberly and Kelly (Josh) Steinmetz of Boston, Mass.; and two great-grandchildren: Dylan and Apollo.

She also was preceded in death by a son: Chad “Thorney” Thompson; a sister: Cora Hamman; two brothers: Edgar Kite and Luther Kite; and three brothers-in-law: Bill Laratta, Bill Wilson, and David Hamman.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at the funeral home, officiated by Bro. Wayne Norris. Interment will be in Luckey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
