Norval L. “Blackie” Maupin, 94, of Festus, formerly of Herculaneum, died Sept. 17, 2018, at his home. Mr. Maupin was the owner and operator of Missouri Auto Recovery and a member of Elks Lodge 1721 in Crystal City. He was a Golden Gloves amateur boxer and an avid outdoorsman and golfer. Born Nov. 26, 1923, in Herculaneum, he was the son of the late Clayton C. and Elizabeth (Decker) Maupin. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years: Mary Louise (Dallas) Maupin.
He is survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, including nephew Ron Miller of Ste. Genevieve.
He was preceded in death by six brothers: Raymond, Ernest, Edward, Willard, Clayton “Pug” and twin Orville Maupin; and five sisters: Mabel Miller, Myrtle Smith, Leola Maupin, Mary Boyer and Gertrude Jouett.
Services were private. Burial will be in the Herculaneum Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
