Norman Wayne Griffith, 48, of Springfield died Oct. 28, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Mr. Griffith was a computer technician for Missouri State University and a member of Webster Park Baptist Church, where he was part of the music team. He was a former member of Victory Church in Pevely, where he sang with the worship team. Born Nov. 11, 1969, in St. Louis, he was the son of Everett Lee and Glenda “Fay” (Jarvis) Griffith of Hillsboro. He was a1988 graduate of Hillsboro High School, where he sang with the a cappella choir and barbershop quartet, then attended Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) on a vocal music scholarship. He earned bachelor’s degrees in mass media and computer science, graduating in 1998. He enjoyed music, Star Wars, the Denver Broncos, mashed potatoes and his Grandma Jarvis’ homemade yeast rolls.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 19 years: Summer Griffith; a daughter: Molly Griffith, his grandmother: Norma Jarvis of De Soto; two sisters: Renee Griffith of Creve Coeur and Laura Ferguson of Barnhart; a brother: Timothy Griffith of Memphis; his dogs: Fred Dog and Sherman; and his cat, Angus, who liked to sleep on the keyboard while Mr. Griffith worked.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Norman Jarvis.
Memorial visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 N. National, in Springfield. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Victory Church, 1 Victory Drive in Pevely. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home.
