Waller, Norma

Norma Lee (Edgar) Waller, 96, of Arnold, formerly of Steelville, died Aug. 20, 2020, in Arnold. She accepted the Lord at a young age and graduated from Ritenour High School in St. Louis. She was a homemaker before going to work for Benzinger Paint Factory in Affton until they closed in 1975. She later worked at General American Life Insurance Co. in St. Louis, first as a cashier, then as a cook until she retired. She was an active member of Center Point Baptist Church in Steelville, where she taught Sunday school, participated and led in the Women’s Missionary Union and served in the kitchen by organizing church and bereavement meals. She lived in Cuba, Mo., for a few years, then moved to Arnold, where she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Arnold. She enjoyed baking, cooking, serving in church and spending time with family and friends. Born May 16, 1924, in Steelville, she was the daughter of the late Corbitt and Myrtle May (Bobbitt) Edgar. She was preceded in death by her husband: William Otis Waller, whom she married on Dec. 21, 1946, in St. Louis.

She is survived by a son: Jerry (Diane) Waller of Arnold; a daughter: Barbara Ann Waller of Arnold; six grandchildren: Mark (Karissa) Waller, Stephen (Corin) Waller, Erin (Erik) DeVore, Rebecca (fiancé Aaron Arnold) Damier and Alexander “Alex” Knox, all of Arnold, and Christopher Knox of House Springs; 11 great-grandchildren: Corbin, Peyton, Barron, Kolten, Rielyn, Declan, Jamieson, Kellan and Dastan, all of Arnold, and Hoyt and Grady, both of Barnhart; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents-in-law: William and Minerva “Eva” (Setzer) Waller; a brother: Jewel (Regent) Edgar; three brothers-in-law: Lee (Nina) Waller, Earl (Gladys) Waller and Pearl Waller; and two sisters in law: Beulah (Dewey) Burns and Zula (Walter) VanVickle.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, officiated by Pastor Matt Cook. Burial will be in the Steelville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Center Point Baptist Church in Steelville. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home.
