Norma Fay (Miller) Poole, 86, of Herculaneum died Oct. 6, 2020, at Festus Manor. Mrs. Poole was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in De Soto, where she ran the prayer chain, and the light of Christ shined bright in her everyday work. She loved the outdoors and took many fishing trips with family and friends, who loved her sense of adventure and example of faith. Born Oct. 26, 1933, in Bliss, she was the daughter of the late Martin James and Edith (Bourbon) Miller. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Marvin Helms, to whom she was married for 23 years, and Paul Poole of Festus.
She is survived by a daughter: Patricia (Steve) Parsons of Herculaneum; a son: Robert “Bob” (Stephanie) Helms of De Soto; five sisters: Rachel Politte of Old Mines, Sharon Silvey of Potosi, Treasa Portell of Potosi, Georgia (John) Veach of Old Mines and Judy (Bobby) Hoeft of Bonne Terre; a brother: Jerry (Debbie) Miller of Old Mines; seven grandchildren: Breanna Meyer, Rebecca Shaw, Elizabeth Helms Mogenson, Steven Vaughn, Michael Ray McKenzie, Alayna McKenzie and Dustin Aubuchon; three great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Harrison and Elli; special friends the Ray McKenzie Family of Arnold; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Della Mae Miller, Irene Miller and Mary Jeanette Miller; four brothers: Donald Bourbon, Everette Miller, David Miller and Danny Miller; and special friend Ray McKenzie.
A funeral service was held Oct. 9 at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, officiated by Brother Rich Grayson. Burial was in St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Camp Hope. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore Funeral Home.
