Myrtle L. (Coleman) Missey, 91, of Cadet died July 16, 2020, in Cadet. Mrs. Missey worked for many years at the shoe factories in De Soto as a fancy stitcher and instructor. She was a good homemaker, an excellent cook and, with her husband, enjoyed Branson vacations and all the family holidays with big dinners, barbecues, and family gatherings. She also enjoyed playing euchre with friends and family and playing cards with her card groups. She was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church. Born Dec. 15, 1928, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Rose (Hill) Coleman. She was preceded in death by her husband: Pat Missey, whom she married on July 11, 1945.
She is survived by three daughters: Brenda Joyce Cheatham of Festus, Patricia (Jim) King of Valley View, Texas, and Marsha Faye (Benny) Merseal of Cadet; four sons: Roger Missey of St Charles, Keith (Sharon) Missey of Blackwell, Kevin (Barbara) Missey of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Derrill Missey of De Soto; 25 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Etheil Davis, Edna DeClue and Lillian Luther; five brothers: Paul, Russell, Jimmy, Leo and Lawrence Coleman; two grandchildren: Jamie King and Dale Missey; and two great-grandchildren: Madeline Villmer and Charli Anna Merseal.
Funeral Mass was held July 21 at St Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines, officiated by Father Tony Datillo. Burial was in the St. Joachim Parish Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joachim Catholic School or in the form of Masses in Mrs. Missey’s honor. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
