Muriel M. Griggs, 84, of House Springs died May 26, 2017, at Big River Nursing Home in Cedar Hill. Mrs. Griggs was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves and the Church of Christ in House Springs as well as being a longtime member of the Ponder Church of Christ. She enjoyed riding horses and gardening and rescued homeless animals. She was born March 24, 1933, in Currentview, the daughter of the late Elvin and Faye (Baughn) Hawkins. She is preceded in death by her husband: Clarence Griggs.

She is survived by three children: Pamela Volk of Labadie, Keith (Janice) Griggs of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ronna (Eric) Gilstrap of House Springs; six grandchildren: Nicole (Cliff) Neuse, Michelle (Louis) Tripoli, Natasha (Mark) Boevingloh, Trevor Griggs, Courtney Griggs and Casey Griggs; five great-grandchildren: Lauren Moushey, Marissa Morrison, Colin Boevingloh, Philip Tripoli and Genevieve Boevingloh; nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by four siblings: George Hawkins, Philip Hawkins, David Hawkins and Glenna Ellis; and a son-in-law: Donald Volk.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 3, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill, followed immediately by funeral services. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
