Mildred F. “Millie” McClanahan, 87, of Festus died Nov. 24, 2020, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. McClanahan was the owner and operator of Shoppers Market (now Mary’s Market) in Bloomsdale for 35 years. She delivered Meals on Wheels in the Festus area for 10 years, was an active . She was an active member of her church. She enjoyed bowling and playing ball with her children and neighbors. Born Nov. 7, 1933, in Crystal City, she was the daughter of Martha (Schwent) and Henry Jokerst.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years: Roger L. McClanahan, whom she married April 14, 1956.

She is survived by two daughters: Annette (Michael) Hughes of Festus and Cindy McClanahan of Ste. Genevieve; three sons: Robert McClanahan of Festus, Paul (Georgia) McClanahan of Ste. Genevieve and Donald (Barb Weiler) McClanahan of Bloomsdale; seven grandchildren: Cory (Tori) McClanahan, Kadie (Josh) Lott, Jessica (Ryan) Huck, Robert (Becky) Hurley, Chris (Tiffany) Holman, Jenna (Steve Smith) McClanahan and Alex McClanahan; seven great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law: Dwight Caldwell of Crystal City; a sister-in-law: Barbara Jokerst of Galion, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Herbert (the late Nan) Jokerst, Charles “Sam” Jokerst and Raymond (Barbara) Jokerst; and three sisters: Marcella (the late Jack) Cunningham, Corella (Dwight) Caldwell and Florence (the late Norville) Wall.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Mathew Cheruparambil. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry at Sacred Heart Catholic Church or at St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus.
