Michael Daniel “Mick” Hart, 72, of Festus died Jan. 8, 2016, at his home. Mr. Hart was a science teacher retired from Herculaneum High School. He was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Elks Lodge1721 in Crystal City, American Legion Post 253 in Festus and Amvets Post 42 in Herculaneum. Born Nov. 8, 1943, in Hollywood, Mo., he was the son of the late Genevieve Frances (Tucker) Holligan and Felix J. “Bus” Hart.

He is survived by a son: Dr. David Michael (Karen) Hart of St. Louis County; his twin brother: Richard “Rick” (Patricia “Pansy”) Hart of Festus; a sister: Beverly (Mark) Freiner of Festus; a sister-in-law: Mary Holligan of Alexandria, La.; a niece: Kim Hart; five nephews: Rick Hart Jr., Kris Hart, Preston Sample, Charles Sample and Eric Sample; and two grandchildren: Jackson D. Hart and Parker Jane Hart. He was preceded in death by his stepfather: Claude Newton Holligan; and a brother: Larry “Mike” Holligan. Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 13, at the funeral home, officiated by Bill Stotler. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Association for Homeless and Disabled Veterans, 210 E. Broad St., Suite 202, Falls Church, VA 22046. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
