Matthew W. Sanders, 33, of Arnold died May 17, 2021. Mr. Sanders will be remembered as a kindhearted, hardworking, jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, camping, bike riding and just being outdoors. Above all else, he loved spending time with his daughter. He would do anything for his “little princess,” including braiding her doll’s hair and letting her paint his toes. They spent most weekends hunting for hidden rocks in local parks. He was born May 18, 1987, the son of Betty (Steve McMurry) Sanders of Waterloo, Ill., and Mark Sanders of Festus.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter: Adelynn Sanders of Arnold; two siblings: Kate (Justin Whitaker) Sanders of Vergennes, Ill., and Crystal (Chad McMath) Cole of O’Fallon, Ill.; his grandmother: Betty (Tom) Black of Crystal City; a nephew: Kollin Gettis of O’Fallon, Ill.; his daughter’s mother: Jessica Sesseman of Arnold; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, at Zion United Church of Christ in Waterloo, Ill. The family requests memorials be made to any suicide prevention organization, and urges anyone battling suicidal thoughts to seek help through the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 800-273-8255. Arrangements were under the direction ofSt Louis Cremation.
