Mary C. Brown, 88, of Leesville, La., formerly of Crystal City, died March 1, 2022, in Leesville. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the American War Mothers, Knight of Columbus Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was born Feb. 12, 1934, in Crystal City, the daughter of the late Gladys (Hamilton) and Wyatt J. Becquette Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles A. Brown.
She is survived by two sons: Gregory (Jackie) Brown of Leesville, La., and Jerome A. Brown of Hollywood, Fla.; a brother: John L. (Gloria) Becquette of Jupiter, Fla.; eight grandchildren: Anthony (Christina) Ingram, Leonard Ingram, Christopher (Chiquita) Elkins, Carliqua Spencer, Destinie Brown, Joshua Brown, Malik Brown and Mason Brown; 12 great-grandchildren: Anthony Ingram Jr., Romalis Ingram, Kaseem Ingram, Janessa Stewart, Zuri Stacher, Lamyah Gray, NeVeaeh Spencer, London Spencer, Majesty Buggs and Syer Buggs; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by four siblings: Alroy (Shirley) Becquette, Wyatt (Mary) Becquette Jr., Eula (Lee) Russell and Doris (Richard Sr.) Cook; and a grandson: Jerome A. Brown II.
Visitation is scheduled from 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 11, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Dr., in Festus. A service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Rd., Crystal City, 63019. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
