Marvin Shaffrey, 55, Cedar Hill

Marvin Shaffrey, 55, of Cedar Hill died Nov. 2, 2021, in St. Louis. Mr. Shaffrey was involved in firefighting since the age of 13 and worked his way up through the ranks to battalion chief at the Cedar Hill Fire Protection District and was on the Honor Roll. He had retired but was still a volunteer battalion chief with the district. He also worked for more than 30 years as line manager at Butler Supply. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in House Springs and a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus. Born June 22, 1966, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Marvin M. and Dorothy (Fox) Shaffrey.

He is survived by his wife: Anastasia (Salamone) Shaffrey; two daughters: Lily and Ella Shaffrey; three siblings: Robert Shaffrey, Gary (Sharon) Gastreich and Donna (Michael) Hartung; two in-laws: Dave and Helen (Jahnsen) Salamone; four brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donald (Vicky), Laura Lee (James), Darren and Cheryl (Kelly); 10 nieces and nephews: Stacey, Jessica, Jared, Clara, Eric (Nana), Damien, David, Jacob, Noah and Cameron; three great-nieces and nephews: Ren, Rui and Ria; and many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday (Nov. 5) at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4696 Notre Dame Lane, in House Springs. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 6) at the church, followed by a graveside service at 12:15 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Byrnesville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to BackStoppers, Clayton Road #203, St. Louis, 63131. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill.
