Martha J. "Jean" Bennett, 89, of Barnhart died May 29, 2018, at Delmar Gardens Meramec Valley in Fenton. Mrs. Bennett worked as a biller with Unigroup Inc. (formerly United Van Lines) and was a member of First Baptist Church in Arnold. She was born Feb. 4, 1929, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Forrest and Eltie (Dexter) Dement. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: The Rev. Hiram D. Bennett.
She is survived by two sons: Charles (Beth) Bennett of Hillsboro and Brian (Laura) Bennett of Cadet; three daughters: Judy (Jack) Montgomery, Sue (the late Dale) Mullins and Martha Cook, all of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a brother: James Dement; two sisters: Blondell Wright and Ann Robertson; and a great-grandson: Gabriel Olivares.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at First Baptist Church, 2012 Missouri State Road, in Arnold. A funeral service will be held at 9 am. Friday, June 1, at the church, officiated by Pastor Kenny Qualls. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Celebration Choir at First Baptist Church of Arnold. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
