Mark D. Thompson, 61, of Arnold died June 9, 2017, at his home. Mr. Thompson was retired. A longtime musician, he began playing bass professionally at the age of 18 and went on the road with a band called Pirate’s Cove. He was a member of many well-known local bands, including Hitchcock, and played most recently with Radio Star. He loved traveling, cruising in the Caribbean and sailing French Polynesia and the Abaco Islands, and enjoyed fishing, golfing and new adventures. Born Feb. 16, 1956, in Rolla, he was the son of Sheila (Sutton) Thompson of Salem and the late Ray Thompson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 34 years: Carol (Chatman) Thompson; his mother-in-law: Wanda Chatman of Farmington; his “forever brothers and sisters” bandmates; and his beloved pets.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Lee Chatman.
Visitation is at 11 a.m. and a reflection of life and sharing of memories will take place at noon on Saturday, July 8, at Andre’s West, 211 S. Old Hwy. 141, in Fenton.
