Mark Alan Arena, 66, of Imperial died Feb. 9, 2018, at his home. Mr. Arena was an automobile mechanic for George Kordsmeier Ford in Festus and retired from Dobbs Tire and Auto in St. Louis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the American Legion. Born Feb.11, 1951, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Helen “Joann” (Bentley) and Joseph Charles Arena.
He is survived by his children Scott A. (Allissa) Gall of Arnold, Amanda Dawn (Darrin) Phillips of Festus, Amy Jo (Michael) Huff of Valles Mines, Joseph C. Arena of south St. Louis County and Cindy (Timothy) Pyles of Piedmont; nine grandchildren: Shelby Lee Gall; Aaron, Elizabeth and Emily Huff; Jude Arena; Damian and Dimitri Pyles; Haillee and Shawnna Sallee and Kaidance Arena Pyles; and two sisters: Cindy (the late Stan) Tyner of Cedar Hill and Jodi (Thomas) Pate of Cedar Hill.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Joseph Arena.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd, in Pevely. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home, officiated by Minister Derek Gray. Burial with full military honors will be in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or any organization to assist veterans. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
