Marina Mendiola Vinyard, 81, of Festus died Aug. 25, 2021, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Festus. Mrs. Vinyard was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City. She was born Dec. 26, 1939, in Tacloban, Philippines, the daughter of the late Ramona (Quinal) and Jose Salazar Mendiola. She was preceded in death by her husband: James N. Vinyard
She is survived by three sons: James W. “Jim” (Lisa) Vinyard of Festus, Joseph “Viniard” (Claudino Pereira) Vinyard of Las Vegas and John Vinyard of Dover, Del.; a daughter: Julie Vinyard of St. Louis; three sisters: Rebecca “Daisy” (John) Wright of Florida, Teodora “Doris” (Benjamin) Polidario of the Philippines and Maria “Christina” (Danny) Valle of Guam; eight grandchildren: Heather Vinyard, Jessica Vinyard, Bailey (Jessica) Vinyard, Katie (Hunter) Grose, Kerstin (Sean) Merlino-Federico, Caleb Vinyard, Lexus (Dominic) Vinyard-Allen and Paige Vinyard; nine great-grandchildren: Hallie Vinyard, Hattie Vinyard, Adylynn Vinyard, Thomas Vinyard, Holden Grose, Kinley Grose, Hadessah Vinyard, Nilani Vinyard and Kali’ana Vinyard; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Rogelio Q. Mendiola, Ricardo Q. Mendiola and Norberto Q. Mendiola.
Visitation is at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, officiated by FatherJoseph Karls. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
