Marie E. O’Brien, 89, of De Soto died Jan. 14, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. O’Brien and her husband owned and operated the Standard Oil Agency in De Soto. She was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late George and Josephine (Deruntz) Heiland.
She is survived by her husband: William J. O’Brien; two children: Gary O’Brien and Terry Hayes, both of De Soto; a sister: Betty Gillman of Cedar Hill; two grandchildren: Michelle (Karl Jr.) Walker of De Soto and John (Karen) Hayes of De Soto; and seven great-grandchildren: Dustin, Derek, Megan, Hunter, Kylie, Erica and Emily.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Rose of Lima Church in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
