Margie Josephine Long, 94, of De Soto died Dec. 31, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Long was a registered nurse who worked for the Jefferson County Health Department from 1967 to 1984. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto and the Daughters of Isabella Circle 659. Born Oct. 15, 1923, in Benjamin, she was the daughter of the late Josephine Cecilia (Marcus) and Eugene George Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her husband: Clyde H. Long.
She is survived by a daughter: Wanda Ann (Richard) Slight of Quincy, Ill.; two sons: Clyde Wayne (Annalee) Long of Hillsboro and Paul Wesley (Christine) Long of De Soto; two sisters: Lucille Lippa of Quincy, Ill. and Donna Berhorst of Canton; a sister-in-law: Sue Raleigh of Fredericksburg, Texas; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Allison and Isabelle Raleigh; and a brother: George Raleigh.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 523 S. Fourth St., in De Soto. Burial will be held at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the St. Rose of Lima Adopt-An-Angel, 504 S. Third St., De Soto 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
